USAPA Rating System Rules and Regulations   (Revised 5/02/2008)

Click on the above link to see the USAPA Pickleball Rating System documentation. It will become effective January 1st, 2008. However, minor revisions may occur throughout 2008 as we discover areas that we either overlooked, did not finish in time, did not cover in enough detail, or are simply unworkable. Please bear with us as we work out the many details that we may not have thought of.

As of January 01, 2008, "Open" has been removed as a tournament event. 4.5+ will now be considered the highest division of play. All 5.0 and higher players can now play in all 4.5 events, although they should be called 4.5+. Any age restrictions will still apply of course.

Check Your Rating Now Please!

Ratings have now been given to many new and old players based on sanctioned tournament results in both the Northwest and the Southwest! All rated players entering sanctioned rated tournaments are required to enter events which are rated the same or higher than their official USAPA rating. Players will not be eligible for points in any tournament in which they are in violation, and could incur further penalties! Doubles teams may not enter events which are rated lower than the rating of the highest rated partner!

Rating Appeals

Players may appeal their rating by clicking on the email link at the bottom of the page and putting the words "Ratings Appeal" in the Subject Line. In the message box, put the reasons you think your rating is too high or too low. Please include sanctioned tournament names and match results that support your claim if possible. Rated tournaments in which draw sheets with scores were turned in were given the highest priority in assigning these ratings.

We are still not getting scores on draw sheets from most tournament directors which is making it very difficult to assign ratings to players.

Most ratings will not change during the year, but could change for some players according to the rules listed in our USAPA Rating System Rules and Regulations. You should read this document at least once.
