Pickleball in Solivita

Solivita is a gated, 55+ active adult community located in central Florida, in the city of Poinciana, just 20 miles south of Walt Disney World. Anyone can enjoy the activities that are abound in the nearby Orlando area, but behind the gates of this community all residents belong to the Solivita® Club where they enjoy 148,000 square feet of amenities in two Village Centers. And yes those amenities include Pickleball. There are a total of nine courts divided between Freedom Park, the main outdoor recreation area where five lighted courts are located, and the new Palms Recreation center where four new lighted courts were just completed earlier in the year.

Solivita is home to the Pickleball Club called the “Smashers” with more than 170 members. Smashers’ members also have the opportunity to join in one of about 17 leagues that have been formed. Leagues generally play in the mornings and then enjoy games with a variety of players as both club and non club members meet for evening play. Solivita is also home to our USAPA Local Ambassador, Carl Klaus.

The courts are open only to residents and guests of residents, but on March 9, and March 10, 2009, Solivita will extend a warm welcome to ALL pickleball players as both the Host AND Sponsor for the 17th Annual Polk County Senior Games Pickleball Event.
